The large-format drawings represent the forms and designs that developed in GaudÃ’s imposing and awe-inspiring sui generis buildings. The architect Juan José Lahuerta, director of the Gaudà Chair, analyzes GaudÃ’s work as a student and presents Gaudà and photography, a scholarly exploration of the designs executed at the Barcelona School of Architecture. Lahuerta guides us through GaudÃ’s formative relationship with drawing through a series of photographs. The art historian Joan Aicart informs us with his essay, Gaudà and Mediterranean culture, highlighting the impact and influence of the artist’s birthplace in provincial Catalonia on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. The light and colors magnified in GaudÃ’s work are deeply rooted in his geography. Dr Mireia Freixa, professor of art history at the University of Barcelona and director of the GRACMON university research group, helps us understand and interpret GaudÃ’s process and intention in Drawings, projects and models. Examine the design for a quay that Gaudà drew during his studies at the Llotja School and the Barcelona Higher School of Architecture in 1876, the original design for the facade of Casa Mila and the first urban study by the Sagrada Familia designed in 1916.
