Customers are encouraged to check with their local branch before visiting, as each library district has different COVID-19 security guidelines.

The library, 411 D St., is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Saturday.

The Reading Mother Challenge began on October 1 and will end on May 31, 2022. The goal is to read all of the books printed on the hem of the Reading Mother statue’s skirt in eight months. For each book read, the reader will receive a raffle ticket for a chance to win a gift basket. Visit bit.ly/LCLYouthPrograms to register.

The downtown branch, 417 Sycamore St., is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays for walk-in service. you and curbside. Computer stations are open and laptops are available for use in the parking lot during these hours. The Heights branch, 2036 Fourth Ave. is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The Asotin branch, 215 Second St., is closed.

A free Christmas activity kit will be available each week until December 22. Each kit will contain two seasonal craft or science activities for kids and will be available at the downtown Heights location during opening hours. Available while supplies last.

The True Story Book Club will discuss “Endurance: The Incredible Journey of Shackleton,” by Alfred Lansing at 10:30 am on December 15th. Visit the library’s website for a Zoom invitation.

Clearwater Memorial Public Library

OROFINO – The main branch, 402 Michigan Ave., is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

Latah County Library District

MOSCOW – Until January 2022, readers of all ages are encouraged to pick up a winter reading worksheet at their local Latah County Library District branch and start reading. Participants are encouraged to submit a review for each book read in December and January. Each review submitted counts as one entry for a prize and can be viewed at the local review library.

Sponsor a Reindeer at the Moscow Public Library, a free program for children, which runs until December 20. To participate, visit the library at 110 S. Jefferson St.

Elk River Free Library District

ELK RIVER – The Main Branch, 203 Main Street, Elk River, is open 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Adult Only Ancestry, Microfilm Access, Book Crafts, and Holiday Craft Making will take place at 5 p.m. on December 15.

The Seasonal Craft Night for Kids will be at 5 p.m. on December 10, and access to crafts and 3D printing for teens will be at 6 p.m. on December 10.

Activities and crafts for children and teens will be available during the Christmas holidays. The full schedule is available on the library website.

Prairies River Library District

LAPWAI – The Prairie River Library District serves Craigmont, Culdesac, Kamiah, Kooskia, Lapwai, Nezperce, Peck and Winchester. More information is available at prld.org/calendar.html.

PULLMAN – The Library, 210 N. Grand Ave., is open 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday through Saturday. Roadside service is always available.

COLFAX – Landmarks of the Past of Whitman County 2022 calendars are on sale at all branches, Tick Klock Drug and Rosauers in Colfax, and the Pullman Chamber of Commerce. They can also be sent to whitcolib.org. Profits go to Friends of the Library programs and projects in the 14 libraries.
