North Brunswick residents Bridget Kennedy and Pete Clark, both members of the Middlesex County Social Services Advisory Committee (HSAC), participated with Co-Chair Ezra Helfand in the 3rd Annual Reading Celebration of Books, Barbershops & Beyond at the New Brunswick Elks on March 13.

This scheme, under the leadership of HSAC Vice President Lana Whitehead, was a showcase for boosting reading in Middlesex County communities by allowing organizations to sponsor individual reading spaces in all hair salons.

The barbers then provided free haircuts at the end of the program.

The children also chose school supplies and books that were donated by county partners.

Any barber who would like to participate, or any resident who would like to join the advisory committee, can call 908-307-3260.
