EL PASO, Texas– This weekend, bookstore Brave Books is hosting its “Dr. Celebrating Diana Natalicio’s book collection.
Bookstore owner Jud Burgess said he acquired his collection of books at his estate sale after he died on September 24 at the age of 82.
Dr. Natalicio led UTEP for 31 years, she was the tenth and longest serving president of the university.
Burgess said they have over 400 books in the collection which they sell to the public.
He said the bookstore kept nearly 80 books for its permanent collection at the store, along with other personal items that belonged to him.
He said that every year he would share their permanent collection with the public to keep his memory alive.
Brave Books is only allowing 2 books per person for the first two days, to give everyone a chance to buy.
Books will sell for an average of $40.
“It’s not everyday that something like this happens for a bookstore, so let’s just do what we can to be able to share this, rather than making money out of it, we want to share it with the public so let everyone have this opportunity to get to know her a little better,” Burgess said.
He said they would sell these books throughout the month.
