CENTRAL COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) – Center County Reads has announced the 2022 Community Readable Book: “Sweetgrass braidingBy Robin Walls Kimmerer.

Center County Reads is a community-based program that encourages residents of all ages in Center County to explore the human condition and related current issues by reading and discussing the same book, according to their website.

In 2022, that book will be Braiding Sweetgrass, ”which draws on Kimmerer’s life as an Indigenous scientist and as a woman. In the book, she shows how other living things offer us gifts and lessons even though we have forgotten how to hear their voices.

Kimmerer circles around a central argument: that awakening ecological awareness requires the recognition and celebration of our reciprocal relationship with the rest of the living world.

Copies of the book can be viewed or reserved in print or digital form at the Center County Library in Bellefonte, the Central Hall Branch Library, the Holt Memorial Library, and the Schlow Center Area Library.
