Hot on the heels of a record sale last month, the Friends of the Fort Myers Library will be hosting their last giant book sale of the season at the Fort Myers Beach Public Library this Saturday and Sunday.

Last month, people lined up outside the library garage to compete for the chance to get their hands on the best books available. “We had at least 50 people online on Saturday before the doors opened,” Jan Fleming, member of the Friends of the Library board.

Thousands of books will be on sale again this weekend from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library garage on March 26 and 27. The library is located at 2755 Estero Boulevard.

Book lovers can bring their own bag or use a grocery bag provided by Friends of the Library to stock up for $15 or purchase books for $2 for a hardcore or $1 for a softcover. CDs, DVDs and puzzles can be purchased for a dollar.

Books range from those donated to those taken out of circulation from the library.

“Because of our successful sales, the Friends of the Library continues to donate $20,000 to the director each year for his wish list,” said Fleming.

“The Estero Island Garden Club will join us and sell small plants and delicious pastries. The Fort Myers Beach Foundation will also be on hand again to sell their wares. We will also have an MRTF representative who will distribute information regarding the restrictions fertilizer for Fort Myers Beach, Florida – friendly landscaping, Lee County butterflies and wildlife landscaping.

Friends of the Library could use the help of volunteers to organize and run the sale, Fleming said. People wishing to volunteer should contact the library.

Volunteers are needed Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to set up the tables and move the books to the garage. On Fridays, starting at 9:15 a.m., volunteers are needed to unpack the books. “If you are able to help us for a while, please stop,” said Fleming. “We also need volunteers on Sundays at 1:45 p.m. to help pack the books. If you know of strong arms, we could use a few on Sunday to help put the books away.
