The Shreve Memorial Library invites readers of all ages to experience “Oceans of Possibility” this summer at the library. Children, teens, adults and families will dive into the depths of the ocean through reading and interactive programs as part of the library’s “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading program. Registration for the annual Summer Reading Program opens Monday, April 18 on Beanstack.

“Oceans of Possibilities” is open to all ages, and patrons can participate by registering books online and attending a wide variety of live interactive programs at their favorite branch of the Shreve Memorial Library. Children, birth to 10, are encouraged to read five books over the summer, teens 11 to 17 are encouraged to read at least three books, and adults are instructed to read two books. As customers register books online, they will receive digital badges for each book read. Those who complete the 2022 Summer Reading Program Challenge will receive prizes including drawstring bags, books, pencils and other assorted promotional items.

Customers can register for the 2022 Oceans of Possibilities Summer Reading Program beginning Monday, April 18. Registration can be done online at the library’s Beanstack site at Registered participants can begin registering books on June 1. The deadline to complete the Summer Reading Program is Monday, August 15. Participation in the “Oceans of Possibilities” summer reading program is free.

Throughout the summer, patrons of the Shreve Memorial Library can enjoy a variety of live interactive programs inspired by the theme “Oceans of Possibilities.” Performers slated for the summer include Didgeridoo Down Under, Professor Universe, Will Parker Music, Captain Maggie, Lady Chops, Geebo the Clown, Marshall Mitchell, Professor QB, Dat Does the Trick, and more. Additional programs covering topics such as aquariums and sea animals, glass blowing techniques, arts and crafts and STEAM concepts will be held in conjunction with the ‘Oceans of Possibilities’ summer reading program. All performances and programs will be held June 1 through July 31 at branches of the Shreve Memorial Library in Caddo Parish.
