LAKE ZURICH — State Representative Chris Bos, R-Lake Zurich, offers a program to keep students in shape during summer vacation.
Bos’ summer reading program is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade.
“Studies show that regular reading at a young age helps our children do better in school now and in the future,” Bos said in a press release. “To encourage our young readers, students who complete my summer reading program will receive official recognition from the Illinois House of Representatives and an invitation to an ice cream party at the end of the summer. looking forward to a big ice cream party to recognize all of our readers.”
To participate in the Bos Summer Reading Program, children must read eight books (books over 150 pages count as two) between the end of school and the August 1 program deadline.
Children who achieve this goal will be invited to an ice cream party at the end of the summer. Participants will receive a certificate of recognition recognizing their reading efforts. The program can be completed in conjunction with any other reading program offered at a child’s school or through their community’s public library.
Participation brochures are available from the Bos office at Lake Zurich or can be downloaded from RepBos.com. Completed brochures can be submitted online or returned to the office by August 1.
The Bos District Office is located at 92 E. Main St., Lake Zurich, and is open 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.
