The recently deceased prominent author of children’s literature Sumangala’s book collection was presented at Sree Kerala Varma Library, Wadakkanchery as per her wish.
His son, Deshamangalam Narayanan, turned over the books to the authorities at his home library.
The collection includes books written by Sumangla and other books in her library. The writer has written more than 40 titles, including 23 for children.
âUnaware of her poor health, Sumangala used to interact with the children in our library and at her home. She used to give Reading Day messages every year at Sree Kerala Varma Library. She told stories to children from different schools, ârecalls V. Murali, president of the library.
In his absence, his books will now communicate with children. A “Sumangala corner” has been set up at the library.
The Vice-Chancellor of Kerala Kalamandalam, Dr TK Narayanan, opened the Sumangala Corner on Friday.
âSumangala has led many generations to the world of reading. She wrote stories understanding the minds of children. She wrote the history of Kerala Kalamandalam, which gave a clear picture of the institution, âNarayanan said. The president of the library V. Murali presided over the function.
